On Friday, the Taminu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met with the former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Saturday Telegraph recalls that the Taminu-led faction had announced the former president in absentia as its Presidential candidate in next year’s general elections.

Despite being announced as the faction’s presidential candidate, Jonathan has not publicly declared interest in running for the presidency in 2027.
However, the opposition party led by his chairman held a closed-door meeting with the former Nigerian leader at his Abuja residence.
Though the details of the factional PDP meeting with Jonathan are yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report, it cannot be unconnected to the 2027 Presidency.
