…Says it’s APC’s reckless concoction
The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State for the 2027 general election, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, has brushed aside reports that he has sold party’s governorship ticket for N10 billion, describing it as a reckless concoction by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said Governor Hyacinth Alia’s camp is increasingly panicking over his wide acceptability and popularity and has descended into script fiction.
The former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, who was reacting to the allegation of selling his candidacy by a group which claims loyalty to the governor, ‘Aliamedianetwork’, said the allegation “is a desperate political fabrication and another indication that the governor’s camp is increasingly unsettled by his candidacy.
“They claim to know that N10 billion was paid “in US Dollars”; that contracts worth N5 billion every quarter were supposedly negotiated”.
Chief Aondoakaa posited through his Media Consultant, Dr Terver Akase, that he remains the duly nominated governorship candidate of the PDP in the state for the 2027 election, and has not sold, surrendered, transferred or negotiated away his mandate to anybody.
“A governorship ticket is not a piece of merchandise that can be hawked in a market and handed from one person to another for whatever price. There are laws, party procedures, constitutional requirements and electoral processes governing the nomination and substitution of candidates. The authors of the said fiction would have known this if their objective were to inform rather than deceive”.
He said the latest fabrication has indeed exposed him to Alia’s camp “as a formidable threat to Alia’s re-election ambition, stressing that if Alia’s media handlers believe their principal deserves another four years, they should tell Benue people what he has done with the enormous resources available to his administration, the latest being the N3 trillion FAAC shared by the three tiers of government.
Chief Aondoakaa tasked Governor Alia to explain his record on security, agriculture, infrastructure, jobs, education, healthcare and the welfare of the people, saying that he is fully in the race and advised the Alia camp to prepare to face him at the ballot box.
